Walking it Out on the Camino

Spain. What made an nonathletic 50 year old mom want to walk across Spain with a 10 year old in tow? Then do it again? And once more? Not the whole way across three times mind you, but hundreds and hundreds of miles er, kilometers. Why pilgrimage in the modern age? Hundreds of thousands are drawn to ancient paths on many continents, some crossing into other continents.
